Magrock Secure First Project with David Lloyd Leisure in Yeovil

Magrock have been appointed as the main contractor to deliver a new flagship David Lloyd Leisure health club at Bunford Park, Yeovil, this marks the contractor's first project for one of Europe's leading premium health, fitness and wellness operators.

 

The landmark development follows planning approval granted in August 2025 and represents a major milestone in the delivery of the wider Bunford Parkmaster plan. The new facility will provide a significant health, wellbeing and leisure destination for Yeovil and the surrounding region, while creating approximately 100 full-time jobs upon completion.

 

Magrock has been appointed to deliver the state-of-the-art leisure club, which will offer an extensive range of fitness, wellness, sporting and social facilities designed to deliver a best-in-class member experience.

The club will feature a premium gym equipped with the latest fitness technology, multiple exercise studios, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, and a comprehensive wellness and spa offering. The dedicated spa retreat will include a Himalayan Salt Sauna, steam room, ice cave, plunge pool, hydrotherapy pool and an outdoor spa garden, creating a destination focused on holistic health and wellbeing.

 

The racquets element of the club, for which the David Lloyd Leisure brand is renowned, will feature two indoor multi-use courts, three tennis courts within an enclosed air dome structure, six outdoor padel courts within a canopy covered area, as well as an outdoor multi-use games pitch and an outdoor ‘Battle Box’ exercise facility.

 

The development will include indoor and outdoor swimming pools, kids pools, a wellness and spa area, fitness studios, sporting facilities, children's activity zones, and a range of lounge and social spaces, establishing the facility as one of the South West's premier health and wellness destinations.

 

Complementing the sports and wellness facilities will be a restaurant and café, business lounge and hub, retail areas, children's play zones and outdoor terrace spaces, creating a vibrant social destination for members and the wider community.

The club is designed to achieve a BREEAM Very Good rating, reflecting David Lloyd Leisure and Magrock's commitment to sustainable construction and environmental performance.

 

Located within the Bunford Park development, the scheme has been designed with a steel frame structure supported by concrete pad foundations and wrapped in composite cladding panels. The building envelope incorporates a range of finishes, including timber and Corium brick slips, creating the appearance of traditional masonry while delivering a contemporary, high-quality architectural aesthetic.

Project Timeline:

Site Possession: August 2026

Practical Completion: Summer 2027

Estimated Value: £16m
